CBD ( short for Cannabidiol) , is a chemical compound found and one of dozens of cannabinoids which is found in the cannabis plant. CBD is one of the hundreds of compounds found in the plant. Unlike the most notorious compound (THC) it does not produce a sensation of being “high” which is commonly associated with cannabis use. In recent years it has been gaining popularity as a treatment for anxiety. Some studies have shown that a course of CBD could help to reduce symptoms related to anxiety, such as panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

In recent years it has been gaining popularity as a treatment for anxiety. Some studies have shown that a course of CBD could help to reduce symptoms related to anxiety, such as panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

In one example, a study published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology (2011) indicated that CBD reduced symptoms of anxiety in patients with social anxiety disorder (SAD) during a public speaking task. Another literature review, published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology (2015), concluded that CBD has potential as a possible treatment for anxiety disorders, but also noted that much more research is needed.

CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system, which is responsible for regulating various functions in the body, including mood and sleep. It is believed that by increasing levels of certain neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and GABA, CBD may assist in reducing some symptoms of anxiety disorders.

However, it is important to note that the evidence for CBD as a treatment for anxiety is still limited and much more research is needed to truly assess the compound’s effect. Please note that you should always talk to a doctor before starting any new treatment and especially if you are taking any other medications.
